I'm Luis — a software engineer with over 12 years of experience building systems that don't just work, but work reliably under real pressure. My background spans industries, but over the last several years I've focused where the stakes are highest: healthcare and wellness technology.
I founded BajaWell to offer US-based medical practices and healthcare startups a serious engineering partner without the agency overhead. Being based in Tijuana, on the Baja California border, means I work in your timezone, understand your regulatory environment (HIPAA, BAA requirements, FDA SaMD considerations), and bring a cross-border perspective that's genuinely useful in the US–Mexico healthcare market.
Most recently I built Genkō from zero — a HIPAA-ready healthcare scheduling SaaS for multi-provider practices. It handles conflict-free scheduling, a patient self-service portal, role-based access, WhatsApp AI scheduling, and an MCP API for AI agent integration. Building a production healthcare SaaS end-to-end means the architecture, security decisions, and compliance thinking I bring to client projects are proven, not theoretical.
I write about healthcare tech, security, and AI on my blog. Topics range from HIPAA and AI to quantum-resistant encryption and zero trust architecture — the kind of things that matter when you're building systems people depend on.
Chief Meow Officer
Froda joined the BajaWell office on a permanent, non-negotiable basis. Her responsibilities include quality-testing every chair in the building, ensuring no keyboard goes unattended for more than 30 seconds, and providing unsolicited but deeply appreciated moral support during difficult debugging sessions.
She holds no formal certifications in HIPAA compliance but has never once violated a privacy policy. Her on-call hours are generous — she is available approximately 22 hours a day, though most of that time is reserved for strategic rest.
